This book was a WOW factor for me. For outsiders it really shows that the Great Game of Business is so much more. This isn’t just business changing; it’s personal change which leads to economic change which leads to WORLD CHANGE. This is a movement of demanding more from ourselves, our leaders politically and professionally, and tributes so much for the next generation to demand happiness. Do people know they don’t have to hate going to work? Seriously. There are companies who get it, who get you, who get that you have a family. You might have bad days anywhere you go but why are we so convinced that we have to settle when it comes to a job? How do we get everyone to know Great Game exists?
At a time when it seems that we are the most divided we've been since the Civil War, The Great Game of Business®is providing a compelling, and unifying answer to a polarized America. Change the Game is an inspiration, brimming with case studies of enlightened capitalism and transformed lives, proving that business is truly the catalyst for lasting change in the world.
This powerful book explores the impact of business and financially literate population in every sector. It is about Saving the American Dream by Closing the Gap Between the Haves and the Have-Nots.
Businesses have the potential to make a positive difference in the world. They can empower people to pursue their dreams and benefit our society as a whole. The Great Game of Business, the leadership system we developed with the help of our associates more than forty years ago, is the result of seeking a better way to run a business than what we had learned on the gritty factory floors where we began our careers. The journey we’ve been on for more than four decades and counting has been driven by our desire to give people the opportunity to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. That’s how we want to Change the Game.
The Great Game of Business embodies such a fundamental philosophical approach that it should be taught in business schools across America. Its concepts of transparency, knowledge, and teamwork empower rather than take advantage of employees to create opportunity and allow them to share in a business’s success. From personal experience I can attest that the principles of the Game helped launch our community hospital from distress into a fifteen-year trajectory of growth and success. I believe that Great Game practices represent the greatest opportunity to continue to grow our economy and also to reform our nation’s too costly and often irrational healthcare system.
The goal of playing the Great Game of Business has always been to find a way to teach the have-nots how the haves make it. It’s about creating and distributing wealth equitably as a way to close those gaps in wealth that plague our society. It’s about changing the game.
We wrote Change the Game for those of you who continue to seek a brighter side of capitalism, one that truly transforms lives for the better. This book is about hope: no matter how grim things look, you can make them better. You don’t have to wait for someone to bail you out. You have the ability to attain peace, security, and happiness. That’s what we think the American dream is all about.
It’s our continuing belief that, through building successful organizations, we can change the world for the better. We can give people the tools to bring about positive change in our society. Change the Game is filled with stories that demonstrate the transformative effects that happen when people embrace a system that makes work fun and rewarding for everyone who plays.
Playing the Great Game of Business has certainly improved the financial position of the County. It has increased the level of financial literacy each team member achieves. It is also exciting to see that knowledge reach an individual’s home finances, which directly affects the health of our community.
